CapitaLand To Redevelop Golden Shoe Car Park
Capitaland Commercial Trust has released a press statement to seek approval for the redevelopment of Golden Shoe Car Park. The Golden Shoe Car Park is a 10-storey building located at Raffles Place. The location places the Golden Shoe Car Park right in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District. With such an excellent location, commercial value for other usages rather than a car park would be higher.
Currently, the building is primarily a 24-hour car park with 1053 lots. There is also a mix of retail shops on the ground floor and office units within the complex as well. On the 2nd and 3rd level, there is the location of the famous Golden Shoe Food/Hawker Centre. A hugely popular lunch destination among CBD office workers spanning over 70 food stalls.
The proposal for the redevelopment could create an office tower that is 280 metres above ground. Commercial gross floor area will significantly increase to approximately one million square feet. The new complex will still be a favourite food destination among CBD workers. A new food centre owned by the government is expected to replace the current one and adjoin this new office tower. Due to the rezoning of this building in the Master Plan, discussions with relevant government authorities such as NEA(National Environment Agency), SLA(Singapore Land Authority) and URA(Urban Redevelopment Authority) are necessary.
The proposed redevelopment is not a first for developer CapitaLand. In December 2014, the redevelopment of Market Street Car Park saw an iconic, premium Grade A office tower known as CapitalGreen.
