In a recent survey by HSBC, Singapore was ranked first as the best place to live, work and raise a family for an expat in 2016. It has managed to retain the top spot for two years in a row. Following closely behind was New Zealand and Canada, taking 2nd and third place respectively. The ninth edition of this survey takes into account nearly 27,000 expats from 190 countries.
The ranking was calculated by taking an average score of the three most important factors when working in the country. Economics, experience, and family. While Singapore does not have the top ranking of these individual scores, it came in at 2nd for Economics, 3rd for family, and 4th for the experience. It was the consistency of having high ranks in these factors that gave Singapore its top position.
Most of the respondents came from UK(26%), Malaysia(18%) and India(12%) who are working in the finance, IT and engineering industry. For more information about the Expat Explorer Survey, you can visit HSBC’s website at https://expatexplorer.hsbc.com/survey or download the global report here.
