Grand Dunman: A Modern Reimagination of Riverside Living
Grand Dunman, situated at 2 Dunman Road, blends seamlessly into the existing collection of riverside residences. Its prime location boasts stunning river views and is a stone’s throw away from the Dakota MRT station. More than just a matter of convenience and beauty, Grand Dunman takes a unique approach to landscape design, weaving the area’s rich heritage into a modern living experience.

Drawing Inspiration from the Past
The landscape architects from Coen Design drew inspiration from the historical relationship between the Katong area’s residents and the Geylang River. In the 1840s, Orang Laut (sea people) and Malays lived along the river, relying on it for food and livelihood. This water connection is reflected in the design, with key elements like the river and its tributaries integrated throughout the landscape, fostering a renewed human-nature interaction.

A Modern River Experience
Grand Dunman is a modern reimagining of the Orang Laut villages, nestled along the banks of a flowing river. This is the essence of Grand Dunman’s landscape. The entire development is designed to resemble a river, with buildings on either side. The landscaping itself acts as tributaries, meandering between these “villages.”

Sustainable Zones for Modern Living
Inspired by the site’s historical kampong morphology (wetland village), the area is divided into four distinct zones: City Life, River Life, Nature Life, and Grand Life. Each zone complements the others, creating a sustainable and evocative living experience.
City Life: Arrival and Activity
As you enter the development, the City Life zone welcomes you with an arrival plaza, a fragrant welcome lawn, and a BBQ pavilion. The plaza’s curved features echo the flow of the Geylang River, subtly introducing the river’s influence.

River Life: The Heart of the Development
The heart of Grand Dunman lies in the River Life zone. Here, the meandering lines of the swimming pool resemble tributaries seamlessly integrated with the surrounding landscape. The pool’s curves mirror the river’s bends, and the landscaping along the edges serves as a transition between buildings and water, much like natural vegetation growing along a riverbank. The buildings resemble trees from a distance, while the landscaping acts as the native vegetation.

The River Life Zone also boasts a pool clubhouse with impressive facilities like a function room and a grand gym. These offer stunning views of the pool and unique water features. The hydro massage pool, with its bronze ring design reminiscent of the Hindu Mandala, symbolizes unity and harmony, reflecting the integration of residents and the site’s heritage.

Nature Life: Tranquillity and Exploration
A treetop walk connects the pool clubhouse to the Nature Life zone, providing a gentle transition from the “river mouth” to its “source.” This zone offers a serene escape with children’s playgrounds in lush courtyards. The water from the splash play area could be seen as a playful representation of the river’s source, meandering towards the main pool area. Here, residents can find solace and connect with nature, all while remaining integrated with the overall “river flow” concept.

Grand Life: Luxurious Living
At the other end of the Nature Life zone lies the tennis court and the jewel clubhouse, another curved structure echoing the river’s flow. This impressive three-story building boasts direct access to the Geylang River view and offers a dedicated service gate from the Dakota MRT station. Residents can enjoy five shops on the first level, function rooms on the second and third levels, and a viewing deck offering breathtaking river vistas.

Grand Dunman: Where History Meets Modernity in a Symphony of Nature
Grand Dunman isn’t merely a collection of residences; it’s a captivating tapestry woven with threads of the past and the present. Here, the whispers of the Geylang River mingle with the hum of modern life, creating a truly unique riverside sanctuary. The landscape architects at Coen Design have masterfully translated the rich heritage of the Orang Laut into a modern masterpiece, fostering a renewed connection between residents and nature.
Divided into distinct zones, Grand Dunman caters to every resident’s needs. City Life welcomes you with open arms, while River Life offers a vibrant heart pulsating with activity. Nature Life provides a tranquil escape, and Grand Life ensures luxurious comfort. Yet, despite their individuality, these zones flow seamlessly together, much like the tributaries that feed the river itself.
Grand Dunman transcends the boundaries of a simple residence. It’s an immersive experience, an invitation to reconnect with history, embrace nature, and discover a life unlike any other. Here, at the confluence of modern luxury and the river’s timeless song, lies your opportunity to write your chapter in this captivating story.
