At Aurea, the facilities are conceived as more than a collection of amenities. They form a sequence of elevated experiences—moving from resort-style recreation and social spaces to panoramic lounges and, finally, a wellness-focused sky retreat.
This approach reflects the architectural idea behind Aurea itself. Designed by DP Architects, the practice behind the original Golden Mile Complex as well as landmarks including Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and Singapore Sports Hub, Aurea continues the progressive spirit of its celebrated neighbour while establishing a distinctly contemporary residential identity.
The Architect’s Inspiration: Finding Balance Between Nature and Urbanity
Aurea’s architectural inspiration begins with balance.
According to the project’s design concept, the architecture explores the delicate equilibrium between the natural world and manmade environments, creating spaces intended to evoke “clarity, inner calm and peace”. Its location makes this duality particularly meaningful: Aurea sits between the openness of Marina Bay and the Straits and the energy of Singapore’s central urban core.
That relationship between Nature and Urbanity is translated directly into the architecture. Verdant sky gardens are juxtaposed against precise geometric forms, while deep verandas provide shade from Singapore’s equatorial sun and tropical rain. These sheltered edges are also designed to channel sea breezes from the marina deeper into the living spaces.
The facilities become an important expression of this philosophy. Rather than concentrating communal amenities on a single podium, Aurea distributes them across three distinct sky terraces on Levels 3, 17 and 33, creating different experiences at different elevations.
The result is a vertical journey—from water and landscape, through spaces for gathering and contemplation, to wellness and recreation in the sky.
Level 3: A Resort Within the City
The journey begins at Level 3 Resort, where water, greenery and spaces for relaxation establish the atmosphere of an urban sanctuary.
At its centre is Grand Infinity, a 25-metre lap pool that forms the visual heart of the facilities. Around it are spaces for both active family life and quieter moments: Kids’ Splash children’s pool, sun deck, Spa Cove, relaxation deck and outdoor shower.
The experience extends beyond the water. Infinity Lounge and The Retreat provide clubhouse spaces for residents, while Sizzle, the grill pavilion, and Sear, the teppanyaki pavilion, create settings for entertaining and dining. Families also have dedicated spaces at The Alcove recreation area and Kids’ Corner playground. Separate male and female spas with changing facilities complete the resort experience.
Together, the facilities make Level 3 feel less like a conventional condominium deck and more like a private resort landscape—a place where swimming, entertaining, play, and relaxation can unfold naturally throughout the day.
Level 17: A Lounge Above the City
Ascending to the Level 17 Lounge, the mood changes.
Here, the emphasis shifts from resort recreation towards social connection, entertaining and appreciating the surrounding cityscape. The facilities comprise Lounge Cove, an outdoor lounge; The Dining Room, a function room; Viewing Point; Rock Garden; and Hammock Garden.
The setting makes this level particularly significant. Aurea is designed to capture panoramic views of the bay and city, while residents of city-facing two-bedroom homes can also enjoy Marina Bay views from common facilities on Levels 17 and 33.
The Dining Room creates an elevated setting for celebrations and private gatherings, while Lounge Cove provides a more relaxed environment for conversation. Beyond these social spaces, the Rock Garden and Hammock Garden introduce opportunities to slow down, while Viewing Point makes the skyline itself part of the amenity experience.
It is a floor designed around one of Aurea’s greatest luxuries: perspective.
Level 33: Wellness in the Sky
At Level 33 Sky, Aurea reaches the most elevated expression of its facilities concept.
Here, the 22-metre Sky Infinity lap pool is complemented by a second sun deck, water jets, Sky Spa and Sky Infinity Deck. The facilities then transition naturally towards wellness, with the Serenity Deck designed for yoga, alongside The Boulder, Sky Gym and an outdoor Sky Fitness Deck.
It creates a compelling rhythm for everyday life: an early-morning workout overlooking the city, yoga in the open air, laps against the horizon, or an evening spent unwinding beside the water as Singapore lights up below.
The infinity-edge water, generous landscaping and framed views create an environment in which architecture appears deliberately restrained, allowing greenery, sky and horizon to take prominence.
An Arrival That Connects Old and New
Even Aurea’s arrival experience speaks to the larger architectural story.
At Level 2, an elevated link bridge connects Aurea directly with The Golden Mile, bringing the residential tower into a wider mixed-use environment. The conserved development will accommodate retail, offices and medical suites, with retail and F&B offerings accessible to Aurea residents through this connection.
This relationship is particularly important because Aurea does not stand beside an anonymous development. The Golden Mile is the rejuvenation of the former Golden Mile Complex, completed in 1973 and recognised as Singapore’s first large-scale modern building to be conserved. Its main structure and façade are being retained, with the conservation strategy drawing on the original building’s architectural components, motifs, and character-defining elements while introducing new landscape, materials, and tactility.
Aurea therefore becomes the contemporary counterpart to an architectural landmark.
Continuing a Visionary Legacy
There is another layer to the design story.
Golden Mile Complex was conceived as a “linear city”—an early mixed-use environment in which people could live, work and play within a single development. Its architecture represented the optimism and progressive thinking of Singapore’s early independence years. Aurea and the rejuvenated Golden Mile carry that idea forward for another generation.
The connection is both physical and conceptual.
The Golden Mile preserves an important piece of Singapore’s Brutalist heritage; Aurea introduces a new residential expression shaped by landscape, tropical climate and contemporary urban living. One speaks of the city’s architectural past, while the other looks towards its future.
And throughout Aurea, that future is expressed through the facilities.
From the resort landscape of Level 3 to the social retreat on Level 17 and the pools, fitness and wellness spaces of Level 33, the amenities follow the architects’ underlying idea of creating different experiences at different elevations. Water, greenery, shade, breeze and panoramic views are treated not simply as decorative features, but as fundamental components of daily life.
At Aurea, luxury is therefore not defined solely by how many facilities are provided. It is found in how architecture choreographs the experience—from arrival to retreat, from city to sky, and from urban energy to moments of calm.
That balance between opposites is ultimately what defines Aurea: heritage and progress, architecture and landscape, city and nature, energy and serenity.
